August has been a month of transformation and renewal in Berlin. Beyond personal changes, I also moved my art studio to a brighter space, where I can finally paint just for myself.

At the same time, I’m exploring new techniques, from fluorescent acrylics to mixed media, opening fresh possibilities in my artistic process.

Over the past few months, I’ve been focusing on picture books, refreshing my portfolio, studying story structure, and diving into the craft of writing for children. I'm now represented by Lori Steel at Steelworks Literary, and it's a big step toward developing and publishing my own stories. In this post, I share the books, workshops, and tools that are helping me grow as both an illustrator and a storyteller.

Before painting, I always begin by drawing, observing and understanding the subject through sketching. These studies help me shape the atmosphere, pose, and feeling of each image. In this post, I’m sharing a few sketches from my current portfolio work in progress: a glimpse into the quiet phase where ideas take form.

This June, I was in Milan for work and had the pleasure of spending some time with her. I also had the chance to see the development of her latest exhibition — a beautiful and powerful collection of wooden sculptures. Over the weekend, we visited the town where she's from, where she has a large studio nestled in a garden — a peaceful world of its own, far from the noise of the city. We did an art exchange, and I brought home a wonderful piece: the Butterfly.

After 13 long (and beautiful) years with Cargo1, I'm thrilled to finally launch my brand new website. I’ve put a lot of care into shaping this space a digital space that better reflects my work and portfolio.
