I’m Elenia Beretta, an Italian illustrator and author based in Berlin. My style blends the influences of nature and painting both lifelong inspirations for me. I was born in Bergamo, Italy, and my love for drawing began early, nurtured by forest walks and afternoons painting with my mother.

After earning my Master’s Degree in Editorial Illustration from MIMaster in Milan, I began working as a freelance illustrator in 2014. Since then, I’ve specialized in picturebooks and editorial illustration, with my work appearing in publications like The New York Times, Time Magazine, The Washington Post, and Vogue Magazine. I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with publishers such as Gestalten, Topipittori, Rizzoli, and Einaudi Ragazzi. My illustrations have also been recognized by the Society of Illustrators and the Golden Pinwheel Young Illustrators Competition in Shanghai.

In 2021, I published my first picturebook as both author and illustrator, We Love Pizza (Wir lieben Pizza!). The following year, I illustrated Yours Befana, a story written by Barbara Cuoghi. The book was published in multiple languages and received warm praise for its artwork.

Beyond my illustration work, I’m actively involved in Berlin’s creative community. I co-founded Picturebooks Berlin, a network for international illustrators and authors, and I run Drawing Nights Berlin, a monthly event that brings together professionals and amateurs to draw, share, and connect. I also teach Experimental Illustration at the Comics School in Rome.

Right now, I’m focused on creating new stories and illustrations, exploring gardens for inspiration, and continuing to grow my creative practice.
